Circle of Life

By

Sometimes the circle of life is so stark and obvious. Life is like that – celebrating the beautiful blessing of a new baby while saying goodbye to a loved one. Knowing that those who once took care of us, we will, if fortunate enough take care of them.

There is an Ojibwe Circle of Life teaching that represents the interconnectedness of all living things and the natural cycle of life. This teaching encourages us to find balance in our lives and to live in harmony with nature and our community. Who are you in community with? How can you love your community well with the time that you are given?

Time is one thing we can’t get back and we don’t know how much time we have. If we are fortunate enough to live until we are 80 years old we will have 4,000 weeks. Each day is an opportunity to celebrate and to be in the present. I believe in celebrations. The Bible begins and ends in celebration. Celebrate the big stuff and the small stuff too. Be present with your people.

Jesus, teach me to number my days.
